That journey recently led us somewhere unexpected—through a back gate of a wild animal park, into a conversation that started five years ago with donated chicken backs and ended with something extraordinary.

Meet Dave: Longtime Friend, Newest Farm Partner

Five years ago, we reached out to Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park looking to donate excess chicken bones and organ meats—nutrient-rich cuts most people don’t want, but carnivore animals love. That’s when we met Dave, a humble steward of animals with a heart for doing things right.

Over time, our relationship with Dave grew. He'd pick up donations and we'd catch up. And then, one day, he mentioned that in his “spare time,” he raises 100% grassfed and finished bison.

Our ears perked up. We knew immediately this was something special.

Dave’s bison are not feedlot animals. They’re pasture-raised and grassfed their entire lives. Raised right here in Michigan. Never finished on grain. Never touched by antibiotics or hormones. Just clean, wild, powerful protein the way nature intended.

Dave also helps run Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park, a place many families visit to see exotic animals up close. He does not raise bison for meat at the park. His meat bison operation is entirely separate. He wants people to know—and we fully support this—that the bison raised for meat are never on display or associated with the animals people see at the park.
