Local Pickup Updates: Here’s What You Need to Know
At Rebel Pastures, we’re constantly evaluating how we operate to ensure that we can keep delivering on our promise of regeneratively raised, pasture-raised, and grass-fed meats. As a small, family-run farm, every decision we make is carefully weighed against our mission and values. Today, we’re sharing some updates about local pickup to keep things running smoothly for everyone involved.
What’s Changing
Here are the updates we’re implementing starting January 1:
🚗 Designated Parking Spaces Only
When you arrive for pickup, please park in the designated spaces. Avoid parking in the driveway or turnaround areas, as they’re crucial for deliveries and farm operations. If you have physical limitations, though, feel free to park closer to the pickup room—we’re happy to accommodate!
💵 $75 Minimum Order Amount
To streamline operations and make the most of our resources, we’re introducing a $75 minimum for all local pickup orders. This includes orders with eggs. If you’re purchasing eggs only, that means ordering 10 dozen.
Why These Changes Are Happening
Over the past year, we’ve had over 3,700 local pickup orders. That’s incredible—and we’re so grateful for your support—but it’s also a lot of wear and tear on, well, everything around here. After much discussion we decided that some updates were necessary to ensure our farm remains sustainable, enjoyable, and safe for everyone—including us and our kids, who live, play, and work here.
Why is it so important that we maintain the growth and enjoyment of our farm? Because we’ve seen too many small farms go under because they couldn’t find a way to stay profitable and the burden of farming became too great to bear. Our goal is to be here for the long haul, building a multi-generational farm that nourishes your family and ours. To do that, we need to make sure that local pickup works for both our business and our community.
Why These Changes Matter
We understand that change is hard, and this decision wasn’t made lightly. In fact, it’s been a year-long discussion that involved weighing several options, including eliminating local pickup entirely or stopping the sale of eggs. Ultimately, we chose this path because:
• We value the community connection. Many of you pick up locally because you want to see and know the farm that provides your food. We didn’t want to lose that.
• Our eggs matter. We know there’s nowhere else locally to get truly pasture-raised eggs, and removing them from our offerings would leave a gap in the community.
• We’re not a grocery store. Running a farm means balancing sustainability with profitability, and this approach ensures we can keep serving you while staying true to our mission.
• We’re thinking long-term. These changes are part of our commitment to building a farm that can be passed down to future generations.
How You Can Adapt
We know this might require some adjustments to your ordering habits, and we’ve brainstormed a few ways to help:
• 🥩 Order for multiple weeks at once. Stock up on your favorite items to reduce trips.
• 🥩 Include meat with your egg orders. Our pasture-raised proteins are both delicious and nutritious!
• 🥩 Team up with a friend. Split an order of 10 dozen eggs and share the bounty.
• 🥩 Store eggs for longer. Eggs are good for up to 60 days in the refrigerator, and ours are fresher than anything you’ll find at the grocery store.
Your Questions, Answered
We’ve received a few questions since announcing these changes, so here’s a quick rundown:
• What about gift cards or subscriptions? If you have a gift card under $75 or a subscription below the minimum, reach out to us—we’ll help you figure it out.
• What if I can’t meet the $75 minimum? Consider combining orders with a friend or buying for a longer timeframe.
• Will you still honor previous arrangements? Yes! If you’ve already contacted us, we’ll get back to you to ensure a smooth transition.
Thank You
Your support means everything to us. When you choose Rebel Pastures, you’re not just buying food—you’re standing with a small farm that’s pushing back against Big Ag and helping redefine what it means to eat well.
If you have any questions or concerns, we’re here for you. Let’s continue building a resilient, sustainable food system together.
See you at your next pickup!
