Does Rebel Administer a mRNA Vaccine to their Animals?
I can't tell you the number of times we have received this question. People have been messaging, emailing, texting, and even stoping out to the farm to ask us face to face.
Let us start by being direct:
Hell No
We were first asked this question in January of this year, 2023. It took us by surprise. At that time, we hadn't heard of a mRNA vaccine for animals. We asked around to our fellow farmers, growers and hatcheries. No one else had either.
But we've learned to listen carefully to the small, quiet whisperings...
Conventional farming (Big Ag) continues to squeeze more and more animals into smaller spaces. On top of that, the animals diets continue to be more synthetic and processed. These unhealthy environments cause respiratory disease, spreading of viruses, abnormal animal growth, and low immune systems (to name a few). So raisers and scientist have to come up with incredibly complicated systems to keep animals alive like: HUGE ventilation systems, automatic manure removal, broad application of medicines (including antibiotics), growth promoters, and vaccines.
Now don't get us wrong. We believe there is a time and place for medicine and vaccines. But we use them sparingly and NOT in a broad application. Because we raise animals in an environment where they are free to roam, and live natural lives, they are healthy, resilient animals that do not require much, if any, medical interventions.
It's important for you to know that Big Ag is linked very closely to Big Pharma. Approximately 80% of all antibiotics sold in the US are used in animal agriculture. Big Ag uses this intervention to fight off infection and dangerous bacteria that is colonized in their close confinement animal barns. Now as the public has become aware of this usage, and they start to take away the access to antibiotics, guess what happens?
- Big Pharma needs to make up for that loss of $$.
- Big Ag needs to continue to keep their animals alive just long enough to send to slaughter.
Now the quiet whisperings have become loud. National organizations are making statements, farmers are back peddling, rumors are flying. I'm not going to get into the politics of whether they are currently being used in the US because, quite honestly, I don't know. I've researched extensively, asked other more experienced farmers, and veterinarians. They don't know either.
So I will leave you with two things:
ONE: I applaud you for asking this question. You have every right to know what is going in your body. Continue to question and support small farms that are willing and able to provide the answers you are looking for.
TWO: We will NEVER roll our eyes or shy away from answering you. As a farm that is raising food for you to consume, we will be honest and direct about how we raise our animals.
Because we give a damn,

Want to learn more about vaccines? Joel Salatin and Dr. Sina McCullough have an excellant 2 series podcasts about mRNA vaccines and livestock on their podcast, Beyond Labels. They are each only about 30 min long and digs deeper into the history and conditional approval of vaccines.
